Obama’s World Tour
Apr 4th, 2009 | By Mike | Category: International Affairs, Obama |After finishing up at the G20 summit on Friday, President Obama is now in Strasbourg, France for the 60th NATO summit. The President is holding his ground at the big boys and girls club.
However, it is a bit ironic that the leaders who attended the G20 summit were so positive on the future of the world economy while the United States announced a 26-year high unemployment rate. I am also not sure how throwing more printed money at the problem is going to solve anything. I would have rather heard a plan to create real long-term jobs.
As for NATO, the President has been able to stir up international support for more troops in Afghanistan, something President Bush was unable to do. The national Modern Whig Party website states that we would like to “put real effort and resources into fighting the terrorists in Afghanistan and Pakistan” and it looks like we are heading in that direction.
