Huckabee afraid of becoming as “irrelevant as the Whigs”
May 8th, 2009 | By Mike | Category: Mike Huckabee, Modern Whig, Republicans |Today Mike Huckabee warned the GOP that if they abandon the social conservatives they will become as “irrelevant as the Whigs”. I had to laugh at the irony, because the GOP embracing the social conservatives is exactly why the Whigs are going to become increasingly relevant. The increasing frequency of these warnings only serve to expose the weakness of the GOP and its inability to house social and fiscal conservatives under one roof. As I mentioned in my last article, the youth of this country are far more socially liberal than the baby boomers. Now that they are reaching voting age, this electorate is becoming increasingly important and are forever changing the political future of the United States. The Whigs in Virginia blog spotted an interesting article, the Daily Kos mentioned the Modern Whigs as the “annointed successors” to the GOP. While obviously a joke, WIV made a good point that the Modern Whig name is becoming increasingly mentioned and exposure is our greatest hurdle. Their is also truth in their statement: Republicans which have been turned off by the ultra-conservative right will find a comfy transition to the Modern Whig Party. I have and continue to be convinced that the Modern Whig Party will be the first viable third party alternative for citizens of the United States in over 100 years.
Chris Mathews was just speaking to one of the Republican senators from Wyoming and told him that basically both parties were beholden special interests and when would there be aparty that would represent the people.
I hate Florida
That post is not from Mr. Lebowitz. It is *way* more interesting.

That would be the IP address of Kellean Truesdell, someone of relation to Paul Truesdell, our friend at the Florida MWP. A blatant attempt to discredit the site? Or just an immature act? I leave it up to you to decide.
This time it doesn’t even make sense…maybe they were upset by my typos?
